<div>When an emergency situation arises, we have to be prepared in many ways.&#160;&#160; Often we forget the spiritual side of the preparation.&#160; I would like to share with you what I feel spiritual preparation for our times consists of: </div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Whenever a situation occurs that is beyond our control and is of a serious nature, we as a people tend to panic.&#160; Because of this general reaction of the population at large, we must first pray for peace with an individual or group, whatever the case may be.&#160; This can be a short prayer of invocation to the Queen of Peace.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Once a person is calm and is able to focus, we must then offer the blessing to each one as an individual.&#160; This blessing is not to be given to a group as a whole.&#160; Each one blessed can and should pass it on to the next person.&#160; This blessing is very powerful and may be given at any time, not just in an emergency situation.&#160;&#160; This blessing is as follows:</div>
<div> &#160;&#160;&#160; </div>
<div align="center"><font color="#43648b"><b>&#8220;I bless you with the blessing of the Blessed Mother and</b></font></div>
<div align="center"><font color="#43648b"><b>may the power of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> come upon you.&#8221;</b></font></div>
<div align="center"><font color="#0000ff"><b><br /></b></font></div>
<div>Now that people are empowered by the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>, we must send them out to pass the blessing on to others.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If there is a situation of a serious nature that affects elements of our lives, we must stand on the Word of God.&#160; For example, if our food supplies are cut off, we can go to the scripture on the loaves and fishes and ask God to multiply our food so we can share it with others.&#160; We must expect that He will act.&#160; He has done so many times in the past. </div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Lastly, we must pray the Holy Rosary around the clock for an end to the situation.&#160; We can get volunteers to take time slots.&#160; This can be done at the individual homes or at a meeting place depending on the circumstances.&#160; This is the sure way for the emergency situation to come to a close.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>

Virtues are formed by prayer.
Prayer preserves temperance.
Prayer suppresses anger.
Prayer prevents emotions of pride and envy.
Prayer draws into the soul the Holy Spirit,
and raises man to Heaven.

<div>&#160;</div>
<div>This is a famous Catholic Gregorian chant hymn, actually the sequence for the Mass of Pentecost. This is not to be confused with another of the Church&#8217;s beautiful chants, <i>Veni Creator Spiritus</i>, which is the Vespers hymn for Pentecost (and often sung on and around Pentecost, as well as at Confirmations and priestly Ordinations).</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Veni, Sancte Spiritus, known as the Golden Sequence, is sung during Mass on Pentecost Sunday. It is commonly regarded as one of the greatest masterpieces of sacred Latin poetry ever written. Its beauty and depth have been praised by many. The hymn has been attributed to three different authors, King Robert II the Pious of France (970-1031), Pope Innocent III (1161-1216), and Stephen Langton (d 1228), Archbishop of Canterbury, of which the last is most likely the author.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>The Latin lyrics:</b></div>
<div>Veni, Sancte Spiritus,</div>
<div>et emitte caelitus</div>
<div>lucis tuae radium.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Veni, pater pauperum,</div>
<div>veni, dator munerum</div>
<div>veni, lumen cordium.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Consolator optime,</div>
<div>dulcis hospes animae,</div>
<div>dulce refrigerium.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>In labore requies,</div>
<div>in aestu temperies</div>
<div>in fletu solatium.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>O lux beatissima,</div>
<div>reple cordis intima</div>
<div>tuorum fidelium.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>

<div>&#160;</div>
<div>A noble and delicate soul, even the most simple, but one of delicate sensibilities, sees God in everything, finds Him everywhere, and knows how to find Him in even the most hidden things. It finds all things important, it highly appreciates all things, it thanks God for all things, it draws profit for the soul from all things, and it gives all glory to God. It places its trust in God and is not confused when the time of ordeals comes. It knows that God is always the best of Fathers and makes little of human opinion. It follows faithfully the faintest breath of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>; it rejoices in this Spiritual Guest and holds onto Him like a child to its mother. Where other souls come to a standstill and fear, this soul passes on without fear or difficulty.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary of St. Faustina, 148</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>On Pentecost Sunday, we read how the apostles needed the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> to empower them to discern and act upon the will of God.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>St. Faustina had a God-given inclination to totally rely on the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. Her Diary includes numerous references about the importance of having the Spirit involved in every facet of her existence.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>The following are just a few of these excerpts that show what can happen when we rely on the gifts of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. </div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>In the evening during benediction, such thoughts as these began to distress me: Is not perhaps all this that I am saying about God&#8217;s great <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/mercy/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Mercy">mercy</a> just a lie or an illusion&#8230;? And I wanted to think about this for a while, when I heard a strong and clear inner voice saying, &#8220;Everything that you say about My goodness is true; language has no adequate expression to extol My goodness.&#8221; These words were so filled with power and so clear that I would give my life in declaring they came from God. I can tell this by the profound peace that accompanied them at that time and that still remains with me. This peace gives me such great strength and power that all difficulties, adversities, sufferings, and death itself are as nothing. This light gave me a glimpse of the truth that all my efforts to bring souls to know the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/mercy/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Mercy">mercy</a> of the Lord are very pleasing to God. And from this springs such great <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/joy/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Joy">joy</a> in my soul that I do not know whether it could be any greater in heaven, Oh, if souls would only be willing to listen, at least a little, to the voice of conscience and the voice &#173; that is, the inspirations &#173; of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>! I say &#8220;at least a little&#8221; because once we open ourselves to the influence of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>, He Himself will fulfill what is lacking in us.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 359</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>On a certain occasion, I saw a person about to commit a mortal sin. I asked the Lord to send me the greatest torments so that that soul could be saved. Then I suddenly felt the terrible pain of a crown of thorns on my head. It lasted for quite a long time, but that person remained in the Lord&#8217;s grace. O my <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a>, how very easy it is to become holy; all that is needed is a bit of good will. If <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> sees this little bit of good will in the soul, He hurries to give Himself to the soul, and nothing can stop Him, neither shortcomings nor falls &#173; absolutely nothing. <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> is anxious to help that soul, and if it is faithful to this grace from God, it can very soon attain the highest holiness possible for a creature here on earth. God is very generous and does not deny His grace to anyone. Indeed He gives more than what we ask of Him. Faithfulness to the inspirations of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> &#173; that is the shortest route.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 291</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>O <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a>, keep me in holy fear, so that I may not waste graces. Help me to be faithful to the inspirations of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. Grant that my heart may burst for <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> of You, rather than I should neglect even one act of <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> for You.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 1557</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>We are beginning an eight-day retreat today. <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a>, my Master, help me to make these holy retreat exercises with the greatest fervor possible. May Your Spirit guide me, O God, into the most profound depths of knowledge of Yourself, and of my own self as well. For I shall <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> You only as much as I shall come to know You. And I shall despise myself only as much as I shall come to know my misery. I know, Lord, that You will not refuse me Your help. I desire to come out of this retreat a saint; even though human eyes will not notice this, not even those of the superiors. I abandon myself entirely to the action of Your grace. Let Your will be accomplished entirely in me, O Lord.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 1326</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>An ardent desire for this Feast (Divine <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/mercy/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Mercy">Mercy</a> Sunday) is burning up my whole soul. In fervent prayer for the hastening of the Feast I find some relief, and I have begun a novena for the intention of certain priests that God may grant them light and inspiration to apply for the promulgation of this Feast, and that the Spirit of God inspire the Holy Father regarding the entire matter.</div>
<div>The novena consists of an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. I have implored God to hasten this Feast and have asked the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> to inspire certain people regarding this whole matter. I am finishing this novena on Holy Thursday.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 1041</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>This evening, I prepared with great care and prayed long to the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> that He might deign to grant me His light and take me under His special guidance.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 1174</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Some days ago, a certain person came to me and asked me to pray for her intention, as she had some urgent and important business. All of a sudden, I felt in my soul that this matter was not pleasing to God, and I replied that I would not pray for this intention, &#8220;but I will pray for you, in general&#8221; [I added]. A few days later, this lady came back to me and thanked me for not having prayed for her intention, but rather for her, because she had been motivated by a spirit of revenge toward a certain person to whom she owed respect and veneration in virtue of the fourth commandment. The Lord <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> had changed her interior [dispositions], and she herself acknowledged her guilt; but was, however, surprised that I had penetrated her secret.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 958.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Silence is a sword in the spiritual struggle. A talkative soul will never attain sanctity. The sword of silence will cut off everything that would like to cling to the soul. We are sensitive to words and quickly want to answer back, without taking any regard as to whether it is God&#8217;s will that we should speak. A silent soul is strong; no adversities will harm it if it perseveres in silence. The silent soul is capable of attaining the closest union with God. It lives almost always under the inspiration of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. God works in a silent soul without hindrance.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 477</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>From this, I came to understand one thing: that I must pray much for each of my confessors, that he might obtain the light of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>, for when I approach the confessional without first praying fervently, the confessor does not understand me very well. Father encouraged me to pray fervently for these intentions, that God would give better knowledge and understanding of the things He is asking of me. Make novena after novena, Sister, and God will not refuse the graces.</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 647</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Virtue without prudence is not virtue at all. We should often pray to the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> for this grace of prudence. Prudence consists in discretion, rational reflection and courageous resolution. The final decision is always up to us. We must decide; we can and we ought to seek advice and light&#8230;</div>
<div>&#173; Diary, 1106</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Today, the majesty of God is surrounding me. There is no way that I can help myself to prepare better. I am thoroughly enwrapped in God. My soul is being inflamed by His <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>. I only know that I <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> and am loved. That is enough for me. I am trying my best to be faithful throughout the day to the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> and to fulfill His demands. I am trying my best for interior silence in order to be able to hear His voice.</div>

<div>(St. Faustina&#8217;s last entry into the Diary)</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>Prayer of St. Faustina</b></div>
<div>O my <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a>, I beg You on behalf of the whole Church: Grant it <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> and the light of Your Spirit, and give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord. Lord, give us holy priests; You yourself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and Great High Priest, may the power of Your <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/mercy/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Mercy">mercy</a> accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil&#8217;s traps and snares which are continually being set for the souls of priests. May the power of Your <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/mercy/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Mercy">mercy</a>, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all things.</div>

<div><b>ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">HOLY SPIRIT</a></b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses I offer myself soul and body to You Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You, by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> and looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You. Give me grace O <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, &#8220;Speak Lord for your servant is listening.&#8221; Amen.</div>

<div><b>PRAYER FOR THE SEVEN GIFTS OF THE <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">HOLY SPIRIT</a></b></div>

<div>If you only knew the gift of God, <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> said to the Samaritan woman! Do we appreciate the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> in our lives and the gifts He gives us? In order to receive His gifts, we must be responsive to His inspirations. But how? I know of no better way to become docile to the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> than to spend time in adoration of our Eucharistic Lord. To pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament is to sit in a private classroom with the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> as our tutor!</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Like a traveler pitching His tent in the desert, the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> dwells in our souls as an intimate guest in order guide us on our path to holiness. On the day of our Baptism, we are consecrated temples of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. St. Paul exhorts us: Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? The <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> is our resident spiritual director, our advocate, who communicates to us knowledge of the Father and the Son. How do we communicate with Him? St Teresa of Avila urges us to hold conversations with Christ, and she assures us in The Way of Perfection that He most definitely communicates with us. Meditation, she says, is not a monologue, but rather a dialogue. Do you suppose that because we cannot hear Him, He is silent? He speaks clearly to the heart when we beg Him from our heart to do so. . . Soon after we have begun to force ourselves to remain near the Lord, He will give us indications that . . . He heard us.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>I sometimes pray with a notebook in hand. I simply speak to <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> as a friend, and then record the thoughts that He seems to be saying to me. It is a way for me to open my heart to Him, to empty myself, and through deep listening, to welcome Him into my life. Before writing a word, I try to quiet down and let go of everything that&#8217;s racing through my mind and heart. Sometimes it takes a few minutes because I&#8217;m so caught up in a whirlwind of activity. As each anxiety, problem, person, fear or thought comes to mind, I put it in an imaginary suitcase which I place at the foot of the Cross and ask <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> to let a precious drop of His Blood fall on all these concerns. Soon, I come to a place of inner quiet, then I wait on the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>One afternoon while sitting in Our Lord&#8217;s presence, I thought back over my life to the thousands of times I have yearned for God from the time when I was six years old in the hospital with polio and cried for God through all the years up to the present moment when I&#8217;ve reached out for God. Through His grace, the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> is the first to awaken faith in us and to communicate to us our new life, which is to know the Father and the one whom He has sent, <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> Christ. (<span class="scripture_reference" refid="517.162718">John 17:3</span>) The <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> impressed me with the thought that our desire for God is His gift to us, His call which He places deep within our hearts. The hunger that we feel is His hunger for us, His <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> of us, His need for us to respond to His <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>! Our conversation continued: With Baptism, every child becomes Mine. You are sealed in My <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>, you are especially signed by My <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>, branded with an indelible mark in your heart which identifies you as My child. I own you, have paid the price for you by My cruel death on the cross. I have won you for Me, to be forever united to Me in heaven for all eternity. Just as you become a mother when you give birth to your children and you them because of that so do I become your mother and father through the birth of My spirit in you. Physical birth is one thing, spiritual birth is another. You become spiritually born through Baptism and you are then a child in My kingdom. You are Mine. My Spirit is born in you and lives in you and leads you through life. My spirit is your life, your real life. . . .</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>The truth of this was confirmed by my experience. As a child of God, we will never be led astray if we rely on our faith and pray to the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> for guidance in life. He always answers our prayers and gives us what we need! As I reflect on the path I&#8217;ve traveled, I realize that I&#8217;ve been constantly led to the next step of truth and healing for my life. I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when He comes, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you to all truth. (<span class="scripture_reference" refid="482.211817">John 16:12</span>) The times when I abandoned my faith and chose not to follow God&#8217;s will were times of great desolation when I refused His friendship and was dead so to speak.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>When we come before the Lord, He pours His gifts into us through His <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. Is there something we need? A problem to be solved? A wound to be healed? The Lord takes us where we are at any given time and invites us to grow. I have experienced the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> as a teacher, counselor, intercessor and healer. During a retreat at Marytown, I asked for wisdom for a conference talk I was due to give. One thing led to another when I unexpectedly uncovered feelings of anger lurking below the surface. I was harboring a reservoir of hostility and resentment which was directed at my pastor, with whom I had locked horns at parish council meetings. I resented his cold, controlling manner, and the ways he stifled the Spirit (or so I judged). Sitting in the chapel, I vented my anger on paper. The Lord asked me to look deep in my own heart and ask myself what part of me is Fr. ________? What inside of me shuts people down and isolates them? While I was trying to blame my pastor for my anger, the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> showed me that I was projecting my own shadow on him, the repressed parts of myself that I fear and hate.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>What a moment of truth! Where, I wondered, did this darkness come from? It comes from your need to protect yourself from pain and abuse, from emotional abandonment, from hunger for <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>, for attention, for care, for touch, I wrote. Sometimes, <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> wasn&#8217;t reflected to you. Instead, there was anger, insult, lack of trust, negativity, coldness. In sealing yourself off from that, you sealed yourself in. Until you recognize it and give it to Me for healing, it lives in you and hurts you and others and sometimes controls you. St. Paul exhorts us to cooperate with the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> and surrender what is not of God in us in order to become more like <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> and give glory to the Father. We who with unveiled faces contemplate the glory of God are being transformed in His image, progressing from glory to glory. This is the work of the Lord. (<span class="scripture_reference" refid="576.274045">2 Corinthians 3:18</span>) I asked <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> how this work is to be accomplished. Bring this broken piece of your heart to me everyday at Mass, He said. Put it in the chalice with My Blood. I will seal up the cracks in your heart with My Blood.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Praise be to You Lord <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> Christ! My prayer that day began with a plea for wisdom to know God&#8217;s will for a talk. The <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> answered me by giving me a generous dose of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of myself and my pastor, and the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/humility/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Humility">humility</a> to see my own deficiency which was separating me from God. He counseled me as to the source of my anger and how to deal with it. And He promised healing!</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>How can we hold Him to His promise? While <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> was in their company he told them not to leave Jerusalem. You must wait, he said, for the promise of my Father. John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>. . .You will receive power when the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> comes upon you; and you will bear witness for me in Jerusalem, and all over Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (<span class="scripture_reference" refid="885.304883">Acts 1:4-5</span>, <img src='http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif' alt='8)' class='wp-smiley' /> We must wait <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> told us, and pray with all our heart. Like the man who knocked at his friend&#8217;s door at midnight, he refused to take no for an answer! Each day, all day, we must beg the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> to empower us to transform our lives, our families, our world. How much more will the heavenly Father give the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> to those who ask him!, <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> said. To add maximum power to our prayer, we should follow the example of the apostles who waited on the Spirit before Pentecost with Mary. If we ask her to put in a word for us, we are assured of our prayer being answered if it be in accord with the will of the Father. Look what she did at Cana! Mary&#8217;s influence with <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> is enormous. Together with the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>, she will intercede for our needs as only a mother can.</div>

<div>The novena in honor of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> so sorely needed by every Christian.</div>

<div><b>ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">HOLY SPIRIT</a></b></div>
<div>To be recited daily during the Novena</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>On my knees I before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. Give me grace O <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, &#8220;Speak Lord for Your servant heareth.&#8221; Amen.</div>

<div>O Lord <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/jesus/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jesus">Jesus</a> Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit on Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You &#160;and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord with the sign of Your true disciples, and animate me in all things with Your Spirit. Amen.</div>

<div>The Novena begins on the day after the Solemnity of the Ascension, Friday of the 6th Week of Easter, even if the Solemnity of the Ascension is transferred to the 7th Sunday.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>FIRST DAY (Friday after Ascension or Friday of 6th Week of Easter)</b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a>! Lord of Light! From Your clear celestial height, Your pure beaming radiance give!</div>

<div><b>The <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a></b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Only one thing is important &#8212; eternal salvation. Only one thing, therefore, is to be feared&#8211;sin&#183; Sin is the result of ignorance, weakness, and indifference The <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/holy-spirit/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Holy Spirit">Holy Spirit</a> is the Spirit of Light, of Strength, and of <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">Love</a>. With His sevenfold gifts He enlightens the mind, strengthens the will, and inflames the heart with <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> of God. To ensure our salvation we ought to invoke the Divine Spirit daily, for &#8220;The Spirit helpeth our infirmity. We know not what we should pray for as we ought. But the Spirit Himself asketh for us.&#8221;</div>

<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Come. Father of the poor. Come, treasures which endure; Come, Light of all that live!</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>The Gift of Fear</b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>The gift of Fear fills us with a sovereign respect for God, and makes us dread nothing so much as to offend Him by sin. It is a fear that arises, not from the thought of hell, but from sentiments of reverence and filial submission to our heavenly Father. It is the fear that is the beginning of wisdom, detaching us from worldly pleasures that could in any way separate us from God. &#8220;They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and in His sight will sanctify their souls.&#8221;</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>Prayer</b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Come, O blessed Spirit of Holy Fear, penetrate my inmost heart, that I may set you, my Lord and God, before my face forever, help me to shun all things that can offend You, and make me worthy to appear before the pure eyes of Your Divine Majesty in heaven, where You live and reign in the unity of the ever Blessed Trinity, God world without end. Amen.</div>

<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>THIRD DAY (7th Sunday of Easter or transferred Ascension)</b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Thou, of all consolers best, Visiting the troubled breast, Dost refreshing peace bestow.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>The Gift of Piety</b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>The gift of Piety begets in our hearts a filial affection for God as our most loving Father. It inspires us to <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> and respect for His sake persons and things consecrated to Him, as well as those who are vested with His authority, His Blessed Mother and the Saints, the Church and its visible Head, our parents and superiors, our country and its rulers. He who is filled with the gift of Piety finds the practice of his religion, not a burdensome duty, but a delightful service. Where there is <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a>, there is no labor.</div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>Prayer</b></div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>Come, O Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart. Enkindle therein such a <a href="http://halfthekingdom.org/wordpress/tag/love/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Love">love</a> for God, that I may find satisfaction only in His service, and for His sake lovingly submit to all legitimate authority. Amen.</div>

<div>&#160;</div>
<div><b>The Gift of Fortitude</b> </div>
<div>&#160;</div>
<div>By the gift of Fortitude the soul is strengthened against natural fear, and supported to the end in the performance of duty. Fortitude imparts to the will an impulse and energy which move it to under take without hesitancy the most arduous tasks, to face dangers, to trample under foot human respect, and to endure without complaint the slow martyrdom of even lifelong tribulation. &#8220;He that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved.&#8221;</div>
