St. Catherine Labouré

Almighty Father, You gave Saint Catherine a vision of the Blessed Mother revealing an image that was to be made into the Miraculous Medal. You commissioned her to spread its devotion. It included the prayer:

“O Mary, conceived without sin,

pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

You promised that those who wear it as a sign of devotion will receive the graces needed for holy living. I ask Saint Catherine to pray for the miracles I need. Dear God, bless me abundantly with the grace to resist sin, understand Your will, and obey Your commandments.

O Mary and Saint Catherine, pray for me. Amen.

Acts of adoration and thanksgiving for the benefits which accrue to mankind from the incarnation of the Son of God

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, behold us prostrate in Thy Divine presence. We humble ourselves profoundly and beg of Thee the forgiveness of our sins.

I. We adore Thee, Almighty Father, and with hearts overflowing we thank Thee that Thou hast given us Thy Divine Son Jesus to be our Redeemer, and that He hath bequeathed Himself to us in the most august Eucharist even to the end of the world, revealing unto us the wondrous love of His Heart in this mystery of faith and love.

Glory be to the Father, etc.

II. O Word of God, dear Jesus our Redeemer, we adore Thee and with hearts overflowing we thank Thee for having taken human flesh upon Thee and become for our redemption both Priest and Victim in the sacrifice of the Cross, a sacrifice which, through the exceeding love of Thy Sacred Heart, Thou dost renew upon our altars at every moment. O High Priest, O Divine Victim, give us the grace to honor Thy holy sacrifice in the most adorable Eucharist with the homage of Mary most holy and of all Thy holy Church, triumphant, suffering and militant. We offer ourselves wholly to Thee; of Thine infinite goodness and mercy do Thou accept our offering, unite it to Thine Own and grant us Thy blessing.

Glory be to the Father, etc.

III. O Divine Spirit the Paraclete, we adore Thee and with hearts overflowing we give Thee thanks that Thou hast, with such great love for us, wrought the ineffable blessing of the Incarnation of the Word of God, a blessing which is being continually extended and enlarged in the most august Sacrament of the Eucharist. Ah, by this adorable mystery of the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, do Thou grant unto us and all poor sinners Thy holy grace. Pour forth Thy holy gifts upon us and upon all redeemed souls, and in an especial manner upon the visible Head of the Church, the supreme Roman Pontiff, upon all Cardinals, Bishops and Pastors of souls, upon priests and all other ministers of Thy sanctuary. Amen.

I adore Thee O God, I count myself as nothing before Thy Divine Majesty. Thou alone art Being, Life, Truth, Beauty and Goodness. I glorify Thee, I praise Thee, I give Thee thanks and I love Thee, all helpless and unworthy as I am, in union with Thy dear Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour and our Brother, in the merciful kindness of His Heart and through His infinite merits. I desire to serve Thee, to please Thee, to obey Thee and to love Thee always, in union with Mary Immaculate, Mother of God and our Mother, loving also and serving my neighbor for the love of Thee.

Wherefore give me Thy Holy Spirit, to enlighten me, to correct me and to guide me in the way of Thy Commandments and in all perfection, the while I look for the happiness of Heaven, where we shall glorify Thee for ever and ever. Amen.

gently within the heart of Thy priest…

Make him, O Lord, a priest according to Thy heart:

meek, humble, zealous,

so that all he does will be for Thine honor and glory.

Mold him into a man of prayer and labor,

insensible to earthly things,

and sensible only to Thy love

and to the graces of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

I don’t know of anyone who has ever not immeasurably benefited from Fr. Corapi’s teachings on the tenets and facets of our Holy Catholic Faith. As such, those who have viewed his programs on EWTN, listened to him on Relevant Radio, or availed themselves of the myriad of other means he makes the content available, can do nothing less than hold him in their daily prayers, and fervently beseech God to continue to abundantly bless him, as those blessings promptly flow through him to millions of souls worldwide, and are a simple reflection on one’s sincere gratitude for God’s goodness in sending us such a wonderful catechist.

Lord, Father all-powerful and ever-living God, I thank You, for even though I am a sinner, Your unprofitable servant, not because of my worth but in the kindness of Your mercy, You have fed me with the Precious Body and Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation.

May it be a helmet of faith and a shield of good will. May it purify me from evil ways and put an end to my evil passions. May it bring me charity and patience, humility and obedience, and growth in the power to do good.

May it be my strong defense against all my enemies, visible and invisible, and the perfect calming of all my evil impulses, bodily and spiritual.

May it unite me more closely to You, the One true God, and lead me safely through death to everlasting happiness with You.

And I pray that You will lead me, a sinner, to the banquet where You, with Your Son and Holy Spirit, are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy, gladness without end, and perfect happiness to Your Saints. Grant this through Christ our Lord, AMEN.

When You Miss One Holy Communion

It is well for you to consider what you lose every time that you pass up Holy Communion.

1. You miss a personal visit with Jesus, Author of all spiritual energy and of all holiness;

2. You lose a special increase of sanctifying grace, which makes your soul more pleasing to God;

3. You lose a quota of sacramental grace which entitles you to special help in times of temptation and in the discharge of your daily duties;

4. You lose a precious opportunity of having all of your venial sins wiped away;

5. You miss the special preserving influence which each Holy Communion confers against the fires of passion;

6. You miss the opportunity of having remitted a part, or all, of the temporal punishments due to your sins;

7. You lose the spiritual joy, the sweetness and particular comfort that come from a fervent Holy Communion;

8. You lose a part of the glory that your body might enjoy at its resurrection on the Last Day;

9. You lose the greater degree of glory you would possess in Heaven for all eternity;

10. You may lose: a) complete victory over some fault or passion; b) some particular grace long prayed for; c) the conversion or salvation of some soul; d) deliverance of a relative or friend from Purgatory; e) many graces for others, both the living and the dead.

Will a few extra minutes of sleep repay you for all these losses?

What riches hundreds of thousands of Catholics deprive themselves daily by neglecting Mass. It in itself is the best preparation for Holy Communion. At the hour of death our greatest consolation will be the Masses we have heard and the Holy Communions received.

Evil is easy to do, it is ordinary, it doesn’t call for strains nor opposition. Evil is a shortcut.

On the contrary, good is a way, a solitary road, it is harsh, hard and full of fallings. Goodness is a very strict way, and its strictness is the way to know the need for tact and strength! Because goodness, like love, calls for strength, the big, immense power of the Spirit.

My Daily Eucharist - Jesus Himself communicated

We read in the lives of different Saints, that as sometimes they were unable to go to the Church for Holy Communion, God made use of an angel, who, to satisfy their hunger for the Blessed Eucharist, acted instead of the priest and took the consecrated species to them.

It appears that Our Savior Himself willed to take this great gift to Gemma; and that happened quite three times. Here is how it is told us by one who was an eyewitness: “On the morning of the Friday on which dear Gemma for the first time underwent the cruel punishment of the Scourging, on seeing her horribly lacerated all over, I forbade her to get up. The poor child obeyed, and collecting her thoughts she set to prepare herself for a spiritual Communion, for which she used to make her preparation in the same way as for her sacramental Communion in the Church.

She went into ecstasy, and at a given moment I saw her join her hands and return to herself, while her eyes sparkled and her face suddenly lit up as usually happened when she had some extraordinary vision. At the same moment she put out her tongue and soon withdrew it, returning into ecstasy to make her usual thanksgiving. The same thing happened at other times as well, but I was not then a witness. I learned from Gemma herself, who quite candidly told me of it, that it was Jesus and not an Angel Who came to communicate her.”

Holy Water a Means of Spiritual Wealth

Holy water is a sacramental that remits venial sin. Because of the blessing attached to it, Holy Church strongly urges its use upon her children, especially when dangers threaten, such as fire, storms, sickness and other calamities. Every Catholic home should always have a supply of holy water in it.

We do not take advantage of the benefits derived from holy water.

LET US CULTIVATE ITS USE

Untold spiritual wealth is concentrated in a tiny drop of blessed water.

And we give it so little thought!

If we would but realize now, as we shall realize after death, the many benefits which may be derived from holy water, we would use it far more frequently, and with greater faith and reverence. Holy water has its great power and efficacy from the prayers of the Church, which its Divine Founder always accepts with complacency.

Following Are Some of the Petitions The Priest Makes to God When He Blesses Water

“O God . . . grant that this creature of Thine (water) may be endowed with Divine grace to drive away devils and to cast out diseases, that whatever in the houses or possessions of the faithful may be sprinkled by this water, may be freed from everything unclean, and delivered from what is hurtful . . . Let everything that threatens the safety or peace of the dwellers therein by banished by the sprinkling of this water; so that the health which they seek by calling upon Thy Holy Name may be guarded from all assault.”

Prayers Effective

These prayers ascend to Heaven each time you take holy water and sprinkle a drop either for yourself or for another, whether he be present or absent; and God’s blessings descend for soul and body.

Dispel the Devil

The devil hates holy water because of its power over him. He cannot long abide near a person or in a place that is often sprinkled with this blessed water.

Do Your Dear Ones Live at a Distance?

Holy water, sprinkled with faith and piety, can move the Sacred Heart to bless your loved ones and protect them from all harm of soul and body. When worry and fear take possession of your heart, hasten to your holy water font, and give your dear ones the benefit of the Church’s prayers.

The Holy Souls Long For It

Only in Purgatory can one understand how ardently a poor soul longs for holy water. If we desire to make a host of intercessors for ourselves, let us try to realize now some of their yearnings, and never forget them at the holy water font. The holy souls nearest to Heaven may need the sprinkling of only one drop to relieve their pining souls.

Remits Venial Sins

Because holy water is one of the Church’s sacramentals, it remits venial sin. Keep your soul beautifully pure in God’s sight by making the Sign of the Cross carefully while saying:

“By this holy water and by Thy Precious Blood wash away all my sins, O Lord.“
